2. Warm up:
As a warm up before your argumentative speech, I want you to discuss advantages and disadvantages with cellphones and other digital appliances such as iPads, computers and so on. One half of the class is for using digital appliances a lot, and the other half is against it.
Find different arguments before we start the discussion. Use the following suggestions on how to start your sentences to get a varied language.
We think...
What we mean is...
We can assure you...
The way we look at it...
Take for example...
Let us give you an example...
Sorry, we can't agree...
Surely you can't mean that...
You must be joking...
That's nonsense...
We disagree completely...
That's not the way we see it...

3. Now let's work with your argumentative speech.
I want you to sit in pairs and tell the other person about your subject. The person who is listening - try to add more arguments to your friend's speech (both for and against).
4. Peer feedback
Practise at your speeches in pairs.
The person who is listening: Give 2 stars and a wish (i.e. two things that you like and one wish for what can make the speech even better.)
